Decoding India's Global rise

In this interview with Manish Chand, CEO, Centre for Global India Insights, Amb. Shyam Saran, India’s former foreign secretary, shares his assessment of the current crisis and drift in India-US partnership under Trump 2.0 and underlines that both sides should patiently try to revitalize this multi-faceted relationship. Amb. Saran highlights that despite recent differences, the India-US partnership in defence, counterterrorism and high-tech areas has become much stronger. Amid ongoing negotiations between India and the US for a trade deal, he, however, cautions India against pandering to President Trump by giving in to all his demands. “My view is that if you succumb to a bully in the first instance, don’t be surprised if there are many other demands which will follow,” he tells Manish Chand, CEO, Centre for Global India Insights and India Writes Network
