A series of bomb blasts struck Jakarta on January 14, which killed at least six persons in the heart of the Indonesian capital. Six bombs exploded near the presidential palace, UN offices and a mall, according to reports from Indonesia. Around 10-14 gunmen are said to be on the loose. Southeast Asian countries have been on alert in recent times after reports of probable terror attacks surfaced. Indonesian President Joko Widodo has condemned the blasts as acts of terror. The Indonesian police suspect the Islamic State is behind multiple explosions. The blast happened in front of the Sarinah shopping mall in an area that also has many luxury hotels, embassies and offices. According to residents, an explosion was caused by a suicide bomber, but there was no immediate confirmation on it. Security is focused on anticipating attacks in vulnerable regions, including Jakarta, National Police spokesman Maj. Gen. Anton Charliyan said.
