A Chinese university has expelled three Indian students for reportedly being involved in an armed clash that left one student with stab wounds. The brawl took place between two groups of Indian students who were reportedly armed with sharp-edged weapons. The incident occurred recently at the medical faculty of the Three Gorges University at Yichang in central China. The violence prompted the Indian embassy in Beijing to send a strong advisory to all students in China. It said the Indian missions will follow a “zero-tolerance” policy in all such cases. There are as many as 14,000 Indian students studying in China, most in medical colleges. “Incidents involving any kind of violence or ill behaviour create a negative image about Indians in China,” the advisory said.
