In this interview with News9, Manish Chand, CEO, Centre for Global India Insights, shares his views about US President Donald Trump’s comments on the bonhomie between the leaders of Russia, India and China on the margins of the SCO summit in Tianjin

The SCO summit in Tianjin has drawn global attention, with PM Narendra Modi, President Vladimir Putin, and President Xi Jinping showcasing strong engagement. U.S. President Donald Trump reacted on Truth Social, saying, “Looks like we’ve lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest, China. May they have a long and prosperous future together!” India has maintained that its foreign policy will prioritize national interest, with U.S. ties guided by mutual respect. Trump’s remarks highlight growing concern in Washington over the emerging RIC (Russia-India-China) triangle, which could challenge U.S. influence in Asia and beyond. Experts see the SCO developments as a marker of India’s multipolar engagement strategy and strategic autonomy.
