India on high alert after report of Pak terrorist sneaking into Gujarat

India’s national capital was put on high alert after intelligence agencies reported that ten terrorists have sneaked into Gujarat, and might stage attack ahead of Maha Shivratri festival. Delhi Police has beefed up security around temples, iconic buildings, malls and markets, and military installations in Delhi. In the wake terror threat, Home Minister Rajnath Singh will chair a high level meeting to review internal security in Delhi today. The meeting is expected to be attended by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval along with Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) officials. The intelligence report warns that 10 operatives of Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba or Jaish-e-Mohammed have entered India through the Gujarat border and they may attack Delhi. The National Security Guard (NSG) has sent a taskforce comprising 120 commandos to Gujarat. The NSG is also keeping other taskforces on standby at its headquarters in Manesar, near Delhi. In the wake of the Pathankot terror attacks on January 2, India has stepped up security at important locations. It is being ensured that CCTV cameras in popular markets and metro stations are functional. Patrolling across the city has been intensified. The Delhi Police has asked all units to ensure that personnel have long and short-range weapons ready during patrolling. The security orders are expected to be extended beyond March 7 as a number of festivals like Holi are around the corner. Regarding the reports of Pakistan tipping off India on terrorists entering Gujarat, Director General of Police (IB & CID) Pramod Kumar said: “We don’t know anything about Pakistan’s role in providing this information. We received this information from Central IB. I don’t know anything more than that.”
