The deadly coronavirus is no respecter of status or power. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is the first world leader to contract coronavirus. Mr Johnson was tested positive during a check-up for cough and cold. National Health Service’s medical officer Chris Whitty advised him full rest and isolation. “I’ve developed mild symptoms of the coronavirus, that’s to say temperature and a persistent cough,” Mr Johnson said in a video posted on Twitter. “I’m working from home, I’m self-isolating, that’s entirely the right thing to do. But, be in no doubt, I can continue, thanks to the wizardry of modern technology, to communicate with all my top team, to lead the national fightback against coronavirus,” he was quoted as saying. Earlier Prince Charles, the heir to the UK throne, had also tested positive. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab would stand in for Mr Johnson if the prime minister is unable to carry out his duties. In the Twitter video, Mr Johnson thanked the public services for their efforts and reiterated his optimism that the country will overcome the virus challenge. “The more effectively we all comply with those measures, the faster our country will come through this epidemic and the faster we’ll bounce back,” Johnson said. “We’re going to beat it and we’re going to beat it together. Stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives.”
